Career Academy Coordinator

  • Understanding of Nebraska Career Education Model
  • Understanding of Rule 47
  • Certified teacher preferred, or related field
  • Excellent communication skills

REPORTS TO:                             Senior High Principal

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM:     Senior High Principal

JOB GOAL:                                  Developing, assisting, and overseeing Senior High Career Academies

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:         Follows Certified Staff Salary Schedule; 11 months; flexible hours

EVALUATION:   Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of administrative guidelines; evaluated by Senior High Principal


  • Arrange advisory committee meetings; record and follow-up on details from meetings
  • Assist teachers in meeting Rule 47 requirements and curriculum updates
  • Seek out and write grants where applicable
  • Maintain Career Academy Website
  • Assist with developing academy application process and follow-through
  • Serve as a spokesperson and market the program to students, parents, and the community
  • Assist guidance counselors in advising students
  • Coordinating field trips, coordinating internships, and coordinating job shadows
  • Collaborate with local businesses and the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce
  • Seek our resources for academy development

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory):

  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
