School and Parent-Community Liaison

Under the direction of the Project Coordinator and Administration this position will serve as a liaison between teachers, parents, students, support staff and the community regarding educational internship programs, services and student issues in areas such as attendance, academics, behavior and health; provide related outreach (internship) and, support and guidance services.  Native American Preferred.  Familiarity and/or experience working with American Indian populations and respect for and knowledge of traditional, cultural and spiritual practices of diverse American Indian communities, as well as an ability to work with other culturally and ethnically diverse populations.

Serve as a liaison between teachers, parents, students, support staff and the community regarding educational programs, services and various student issues; assist in coordinating and arranging programs and services to meet the needs of students. Provide outreach, liaison and guidance services to assist in resolving student issues and problems in areas such as attendance, academics, behavior and health; work with parents, teachers and others in developing and implementing strategies, goals and objectives for resolving student issues.

 

Work directly with Project Director and Administration to:  work with project director/coordinator and Administration to schedule and market parent/community events and activities.  Support student internships by arranging transportation, acquiring resources/supplied needed by the students and coordinate with the department of labor personnel on grant related activities. Report grant progress/activities to school, community and tribal entities monthly provide attendance/activity reports to project director of community/parent activities.

 

Requirements:  Licensed social worker, school counselor, or other similar qualification

 

Other duties as assigned.  Participate in the leadership team.
