Mental Health Practitioner

 

Niobrara Public Schools is currently seeking a licensed or provisionally licensed mental health practitioner. This is a four-year grant position.

 

Therapists work primarily in the school as Tier 1 supports then with Tier 2 in the school or home and Tier 3 in the school, home and community.

 

Therapist will blend the best clinical treatments, to include but not limited to; cognitive behavioral therapy, behavior modification, and family therapy modalities. Therapist will perform assessment of family strengths and needs, define problematic behaviors, and implement a treatment plan according to MST Standards. Therapist empowers parents and caregivers with the skills and resources needed to independently address difficulties that arise in raising adolescents and empower youth to cope with family, peer, school, and neighborhood problems. This individual must possess excellent communication skills to develop and foster relationships with referral sources.

 

Therapist will provide in the class training/team teaching for teachers to ensure modeling and support of behavior interventions.  Positive Behaviors, Interventions and Supports (PBiS) leadership and program development will be necessary with this position.  Documentation of the referrals and training in the SWISS data entry system will be required through this grant.  Therapist will assist the project coordinator in the facilitation of the professional development program and on development and implementation of standards integration. 

 

Familiarity and/or experience working with American Indian populations and respect for and knowledge of traditional, cultural and spiritual practices of diverse American Indian communities, as well as an ability to work with other culturally and ethnically diverse populations.

Minimum of Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP), Licensed Mental Health Practitioner(LMHP), Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) in Nebraska.
