West Kearney High School at the YRTC in Kearney is seeking Summer Teachers to provide instruction to our Youth during the 2021 Summer Session. Our summer school will be half day instruction and half day enrichment, working with the 4H curriculum to make learning fun this summer. We will be offering direct instruction, online instruction, and creative enrichment courses that will engage our students and faculty alike. We have a fantastic summer program planned and we would LOVE for you to be a part of it all! Examples of Work

We have 4 Summer Teacher opportunities available for Math, Science, Social Studies, and English. The Math teacher is responsible for the development of each students’ skills in math and further development of the fundamentals of math topics. The Science teacher is responsible for the development of each students’ skills in Science. Further develop and help students explore and understand important concepts in science, as well as ongoing development of citizenship is also desired. The instructor will motivate students to develop an appreciation of life-long learning and discovery, problem-solving and how to gather evidence to support ideas or decisions. The Social Studies teacher is responsible for the development of each students’ skills in Social Studies. Further develop and guide students through complex topics and subject matter to help youth understand their place in history, as well as ongoing development of citizenship is also desired. The instructor will motivate students to develop an appreciation of life-long learning and discovery. English language arts teacher is responsible for the development of each students’ skills with regards to reading, writing and composition. Further development of the fundamentals of ELA topics and as well as ongoing development of citizenship is also desired.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIRED: Must possess a current Nebraska Teaching Certificate, with 7-12 endorsement. Candidates eligible for endorsement by May 28, 2021 are eligible to apply. Teaching experience in a residential treatment facility or alternative classroom would be beneficial but not required.
