DHHS’s Kearney Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center, is seeking a Guidance Teacher to work with high-acuity youth. Salary is based on the negotiated SCATA contract. Location of position: YRTC – Kearney, 2802 30th Ave. Kearney, Nebraska

Work schedule: M-F 8am-4pm

Examples of Work

The Guidance Teacher will provide individual student counseling services, post high school preparation, scholarships, assist the principal with student scheduling, attendance and academic progress. Document individual student counseling. Assist in maintaining supervision and teaching in the school area. Additional duties may include, but not limited to, escorting students, community projects, and collaborative projects with other faculty / staff members.

Hiring rate of position: Based on the SCATA contract 

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with endorsement in mathematics (7-12). 

PREFERRED: Background working with at risk or high risk students and/or in a correctional setting. Added endorsement in physical education, music, art, and/or special education as well as computer skills to include Windows, Word, Excel, and NovaNET.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Evaluate students abilities and interests through assessments and interviews, help students with individual planning to achieve academic and career goals, collaborate with teachers to help students succeed educationally.
