Career & Technical Education Grant Specialist (Program Specialist II)

The Nebraska Department of Education is looking for a Grant Specialist to coordinate Career & Technical Education grant activities including completing documentation, developing work plans and budgets, and facilitating training workshops.

Office Location & Schedule: This position is assigned to our office located at 84th & O St, Lincoln, NE, with potential for some telework after an onboarding and training period, contingent upon proper agency approvals.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates Career & Technical Education (CTE) grant activities in compliance with grant requirements. Completes required information and documentation, develops an annual work plan and budget, and coordinates training workshops.
- Reviews and approves grant applications, budgets, and reimbursement requests.
- Responds to inquiries and provides technical assistance to build rapport with Nebraska school administrators.
- Provides information, promotion, and guidance related to the grant to other NDE staff, district personnel, Local Education Agency staff, and other partners.
- Collaborates with fiscal specialists to ensure accuracy and completeness of grant documentation, invoices, expenditures, and potential income sources.
- Demonstrates commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Working Conditions and Travel:
This position requires approximately 95% of work time spent in an office environment (e.g., state offices, home offices); the remaining 5% is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as schools, ESUs, and other service agencies. There is also approximately five days of overnight travel per year.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of experience related to the essential functions of the position. Any equivalent education and/or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working within educational entities or an educational environment, and prior experience in state or federal grant review and compliance.

Pay Rate:
$30.219/hour
This rate is based upon available budget funds; any offer will be made at this rate.
