7-12 English/Language Arts Teacher

Nebraska Christian Schools seeks a Secondary English/Language Arts Teacher who claims his/her faith to be in Jesus Christ. We are an accredited school offering a competitive wage and benefits. NCS holds a family- and commuter-friendly 4-day school week. Additionally, the staff and student climates combine to make for an amazing environment. Additional duties will be customized to fit the needs of the school and the strengths of the individual. The certified staff member will report on all days that teachers are to report to school.

Position Responsibilities

Faith & Mission Commitment

  1. Model Christ-like behavior and disciple students in their personal and academic growth.

  3. Integrate a Biblical worldview into all aspects of teaching, helping students develop a Christ-centered perspective on literature, writing, and communication.

Instruction & Curriculum

  1. Plan and deliver engaging ELA lessons aligned with Nebraska Christian Schools’ curriculum and educational standards.

  2. Teach literature, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking from a Christ-centered perspective.

  3. Facilitate discussions on literature that connect themes, characters, and moral lessons to Biblical principles.

  4. Encourage effective writing skills by guiding students through the writing process, from brainstorming to final drafts.

  5. Incorporate various genres of literature, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and Biblical texts, to build students’ literacy and comprehension.

Classroom Engagement & Student Support

  1. Use differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

  2. Create a Christ-centered, safe, and respectful classroom environment that encourages meaningful discussions and active participation.

  3. Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote responsibility, respect, and discipline in alignment with Biblical principles.

  4. Provide students with timely and constructive feedback on their writing, reading comprehension, and overall academic growth.

Assessment & Growth

  1. Assess student progress through a variety of tools, including quizzes, essays, projects, and presentations.

  2. Monitor and track student performance, providing necessary interventions or support as needed.

  3. Stay current with developments in ELA education and integrate best practices into teaching methods.

  4. Attend professional development workshops that align with both educational growth and faith-based teaching strategies.

 

 

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  1. Work closely with fellow teachers and staff to align curriculum, share resources, and support interdisciplinary projects.

  2. Communicate effectively with parents, keeping them informed about student progress and classroom activities.

  3. Engage in school life by participating in chapel, school events, student mentorship, and extracurricular activities.

  4. Encourage students to develop strong communication skills that prepare them for higher education and life beyond school.

Advisory & Discipleship Role

  1. Serve as a mentor and spiritual leader for students, guiding them academically, socially, and spiritually.

  2. Encourage a love for reading and writing, helping students recognize how literacy can shape their faith and worldview.

 

This position requires a commitment to academic excellence, faith integration, and student discipleship to help develop students who honor Christ in their learning and communication.
