Superintendent – Sumner-Eddyville-Miller

NASB is facilitating a search for a Superintendent for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Schools. S-E-M is located in rural Dawson County, with district boundaries also including parts of both Custer and Buffalo counties. The school is located in Sumner approximately 35 miles northwest of Kearney. Sumner is situated in the Platte River Valley, which contributes to its agricultural surroundings and close-knit atmosphere.

S-E-M offers a wide variety of classes including college courses through Central Community College via distance learning. In 2020, the district added a 5,000 square foot weight room that also functions as a community fitness center. The current enrollment is 216 students. Students are able to participate in a number of extracurricular activities that are all strongly supported by the community.

The district is looking for applicants who can

• Encourage a collaborative atmosphere while setting high expectations for staff and students
• Provide consistent leadership to the board to support effective board governance
• Be present in the community and at activities to build trust and support in leadership
• Utilize experience in a small rural school to manage curriculum and grow offerings for students
