Superintendent – Kearney

The Kearney Public School district has a vacancy for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The district is seeking a proactive, proven leader with a strong understanding of the Nebraska Education System. A doctorate (or doctorate in progress) is preferred, not required. Interested applicants should have experience as a superintendent or in upper-level/central office administration. Other characteristics desired by the board include applicants who will be:

  • Visible in the school buildings, available and approachable for staff
  • Outgoing and involved in the community
  • An excellent communicator who values collaboration with all district stakeholders
  • Aware of the interests of the community of Kearney
  • Committed to public education

Kearney is a vital and growing community of over 33,000 people and is located in the Platte Valley in the south-central part of Nebraska. Kearney is home of the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Kearney is also the home of the Museum of Nebraska Art, the Great Platte River Archway Monument, the Viaero Event Center, the Nebraska Firefighters’ Museum, the Central Nebraska Veterans’ Home, and the Robert M. Merryman Performing Arts Center. The community has a strong Community College presence and two hospital systems.
