David City – Superintendent

David City Public Schools is hiring a Superintendent of Schools to begin July 1, 2027.

David City Public Schools is a Class III school system with an enrollment of 710 students. David City High School is classified as C-2 by the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) and is a member of the Southern Nebraska Conference (SNC). Elementary students attend school in David City at David City Elementary or in Bellwood at Bellwood Elementary. Students in grades seven through twelve attend David City High School. In addition, all-day Kindergarten and half-day and all-day prekindergarten classes are held in David City and Bellwood. David City Public Schools is associated with Educational Service Unit #7 located in Columbus.

The community of David City has a population of 3,400. It is conveniently located 50 miles NW of Lincoln and 25 miles SE of Columbus, and boasts pool, parks, baseball/softball complex, soccer fields, a Rotary Club, Friends of David City, and the Butler County Chamber. Communities in the district include David City, Bellwood, Linwood, Octavia, Bruno, Abie, Garrison, Ulysses, and Surprise.

The district is looking for applications who will:

• Provide visionary instructional leadership that promotes high-quality teaching, supports continuous improvement, and keeps student learning and achievement at the center of district decision-making.

• Build and sustain a highly effective, collaborative staff culture through clear expectations, meaningful evaluation, professional growth, and a shared commitment to excellence in instruction.

• Demonstrate sound fiscal stewardship and long-range facilities planning, maintaining a healthy financial position while anticipating future needs.

• Build trust and strong working relationships with the Board, staff, students, families, and community through transparent communication, collaborative decision-making, and a commitment to keeping the district focused on current and future needs.
