Morrill is halfway between Scottsbluff, NE and Torrington, WY; nestled just north of the Wildcat Hills we are close to amazing outdoor activities in 4 different states. Morrill is growing, both the school and the town. We have had 4 years of consecutive enrollment growth with business growth as well. The school operates a quality birth to preschool center, making early childhood care available for all our staff and community members.
We are interested to hire an Elementary Counselor, PLMHP, LMHP, or Social Worker. This person will help students cope with personal and psychological issues that affect their school performance, behavior and socialization. Through one-on-one, classroom or school-wide sessions, the counselor will address issues relevant to our student population (30% Hispanic, 70% poverty) such as school attendance, illegal drug or alcohol dangers, family issues, trauma, and adjustment to the social setting of the school. The counselor will also assist teachers and administrators in dealing with behavioral or attitude issues by communicating with students and parents to find the causes of their distress.
When appropriate or necessary, the school counselors will provide information for outside support services or agencies to help students deal with economic, mental, social, emotional or physical challenges. The counselor will sometimes focus on particular groups of students, such as at-risk groups.
New Staff Orientation is August 9, 2019 followed by two days of all staff in-service. School starts on August 14 with a couple days of relational building activities aimed at building excitement and engagement among the students and between students and staff. We value relationship building with students.
Starting salary will not be determined by degree, licensure, or certification. We pay certificated staff an $11,500 fringe benefit stipend, and pay 1/2 the premium of Blue Cross Blue Shield medical and dental insurance.
