Part time World Language Teacher – 

American Sign Language (ASL)

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Mercy High School seeks passionate and dynamic educators to join our World Language Department. We are seeking an American Sign Language (ASL) teacher who inspires curiosity, cultural understanding, and global citizenship in students while fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.

We may consider candidate who can teach other World Languages ie: Spanish, French, Mandarin, German etc.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Native or near-native fluency in American Sign Language

Commitment to fostering inclusive, student-centered classrooms

Ability to build strong rapport with students, faculty, staff, and parents

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Enthusiasm for working in a mission-driven, collaborative school community

Passion for promoting cultural awareness and language acquisition

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in World Language, Education, or a related field

Teaching certification (or eligibility for certification) preferred

Previous teaching experience preferred

Experience working with native signers and Deaf culture strongly valued

Additional Information

Applicants must complete a background check and the Archdiocese of Omaha required Safe Environment training.
