Position Overview:
Maxwell Public Schools is seeking a passionate and motivated Agriculture Teacher to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year. This individual will play a key role in providing agricultural education to students in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture and a commitment to fostering a hands-on, engaging learning environment.
The Agriculture Teacher will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses, including but not limited to, introductory agriculture, animal science, plant science, agribusiness, and FFA (Future Farmers of America) activities. The position requires someone who can build positive relationships with students, collaborate with fellow educators, and contribute to the growth and success of the agricultural education program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach agriculture-related courses, including but not limited to, plant science, animal science, agricultural mechanics, and agribusiness.
- Plan and implement a curriculum that meets the educational standards and goals of Maxwell Public Schools.
- Teacher preferences and skill sets will be utilized when creating courses, allowing for flexibility and opportunities to incorporate personal expertise and interests into the curriculum.
- Integrate hands-on, project-based learning activities to provide real-world agricultural experiences for students.
- Supervise and coach students involved in FFA activities and competitions.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, growth, and success.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to enhance cross-curricular learning and school-wide initiatives.
- Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and faculty meetings.
- Engage in professional development to stay current on best practices in agricultural education.
- Support students in extracurricular and leadership opportunities, including FFA events and community service projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Valid Nebraska teaching certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
- Experience or a strong background in agriculture is preferred, particularly in areas such as animal science, plant science, and agricultural mechanics.
- Passion for teaching and working with students of all ages.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and parents.
- Ability to integrate technology and hands-on learning experiences into the curriculum.
