Madonna Ability Alliance (formerly Madonna School & Community-Based Services) is a ministry of the Archdiocese of Omaha serving youth and adults with diverse abilities, such as intellectual & developmental disabilities, autism, and other health impairments through innovative and best-practice programs. Through each program we seek to form, educate, and empower those we serve so they may achieve their full potential at school, home, work and within the community.

Madonna’s programs include:

·         Elementary Education with on-site experts in inclusive education at our three partner schools – Holy Name, St. Pius/Leo, and St. Robert Bellarmine.

·         Secondary Education includes core and functional academics, pre-vocational instruction, community-based learning experiences, and many extra-curricular activities.

·         Transition Education for young adults ages 18-21 where students develop the career and life skills necessary for success at home, work, and within the community.

·         Employment Services for adults who are dedicated to maximizing their ability to achieve competitive employment and independence.

·         Project Search for young adults & adults who exhibit readiness to achieve competitive employment.

Madonna Ability Alliance seeks a highly qualified Secondary Special Education Teacher for a full-time position. The Secondary Special Education Teacher develops and case manages individualized learning plans for students with diverse abilities, including mild to moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and other health impairments. The Secondary Special Education Teacher coordinates all resources, plans and delivers evidence-based core instruction, and executes interventions that maximize students’ abilities and help them achieve their individualized learning goals. The Secondary Special Education Teacher is adept at helping students build their academic and functional academic skills in core subjects such as Reading, Language Arts, and Math. Working with a team of fellow educators, specialists, and clinical services providers, the Secondary Special Education Teacher coordinates student resources and is pivotal in building strong bonds between Madonna, students, families, and community.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement annual individualized student plans.
  • Schedule individualized student plan meetings to include all team members.
  • Collaborate and communicate on a consistent and ongoing basis with the Director of Secondary, peers, clinical providers, parents, and community partners to support each student’s learning goals.
  • Apply evidence-based learning strategies and interventions to deliver high quality core instruction and to support student’s individualized plans and progress.
  • Effectively leverage all available resources to drive instruction and support students, including the Teacher Assistant and Specials Teachers.
  • Collect data for on-going progress monitoring and effectively use data to plan and problem solve.
  • Manage a safe and effective learning environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Special Education
  • Master’s in Education or related field preferred but not required
  • Must hold or can obtain a valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement

  • Exhibit a strong ability to effectively analyze student needs and problem solve leveraging all available data and resources.
  • Exhibit a strong ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community partners.
  • Background check and Safe Environment Certification required before beginning employment.
