Certified, Early Childhood Special Education Instructional Leader

Position Details: 

The Early Childhood Special Education Instructional Leader possess strong instructional leadership, knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and instructional skills, knowledge, understanding and application of early childhood special education processes and procedures, and strong organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with early childhood teachers, classroom support staff and other early childhood providers as well as the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with others.  The successful candidate has excellent oral and written communication skills and is responsive to the needs of classroom staff. Flexibility is essential and professionalism in all interactions is critical.  

 

Will work closely with the Director of Early Childhood and the Early Childhood Supervisor. Must have demonstrated successful experience in early childhood special education in addition to strong knowledge with the ability to implement the Early Childhood Behavior Framework as well as support others with implementation of the Framework.  Experience as an early childhood special education teacher or early childhood SLP required (requires a current SLP or ECSE endorsement). This position requires an ability to respond to and support teachers and teams with programming and other support to best meet the needs of children.  

 

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

·         Supporting preschool staff members through observation, modeling, coaching and consultation to best meet the needs of preschoolers, including children with disabilities and diverse needs;

·         Assisting with planning, organizing  and implementing professional learning opportunities for EC/ECSE center based staff;

·         Assisting with the monitoring of the ECSE referral process at buildings;

·         Assisting with new educator induction, incuding new educaor week with weekly an ongoing support for new educators, those in years 2-3 and as well as support for all ECSE/EC SLP team members;

·         Assisting with the implementation of the Early Childhood Behavior Framework and Creative Curriculum; 

·         Providing support and instruction to new early childhood special education staff regarding special education services; and

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

This position requires 5 additional days and includes a team leader stipend. Requires use of a personal vehicle as reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license.  

 

This position is subject to a veterans preference.
