MS/HS ELA

High Plains Community Schools is seeking a passionate, motivated, and knowledgeable educator to teach English Language Arts (ELA). This job is primarily responsible for junior high classes, but some high school classes will be required as well.

Our ideal candidate will provide engaging, standards-based instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills. The successful applicant will inspire students to develop a lifelong appreciation for literature while strengthening their analytical and communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with state standards and district curriculum.

  • Provide instruction in literature, composition, grammar, vocabulary, and research skills.

  • Foster strong reading comprehension and writing proficiency across multiple genres.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.

  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and community partners to support student success.

  • Maintain high academic expectations and hold students accountable for quality work.

  • Supervise students during classroom activities and school-related events as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Valid state teaching certification in English Language Arts.

  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies into instruction.

  • Commitment to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Additional Information

The starting base salary in the 2026-27 school year is $41,600.00.  The salary schedule is 4X4.5.  The package includes all benefits, LTD, and a full insurance package. The start of the 2026-27 school year is approximately August 7th.
