Teacher Education Faculty

Description 

The Department of Teacher Education at Hastings College invites applications for a full-time position. We are looking for an educator to teach content and methods courses in special education. Faculty also assist with teaching the general education coursework and could also include assessment, technology integration, elementary math methods or science methods. The Teacher Education Department works to prepare students to become excellent, impactful teachers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

  • Teaching, generally 24 credit hours per academic year.

  • Advising and mentoring students majoring in education.

  • Supervising students in field experiences, to include student teaching semester.

  • Developing course syllabi and curriculum.

  • Working in a professional, collegial, and team-oriented manner within the Teacher Education Department and campus community.

  • Maintaining compliance with policies and procedures within the Teacher Education Program.

  • Serving and participating in department and campus committee work

 

Qualifications:  

  • Education – PhD or EdD in education preferred. Candidates with a master’s degree will be considered with expertise and experience in the special education field.

  • Certification – Hold, or have held, valid state teaching certification.

  • Experience – Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in PK-12 public accredited schools.

  • Exhibit potential for teaching excellence, knowledge of emerging trends in the field, and a working knowledge of how students learn.
