K-12 Art Teacher

The Elementary Art Teacher at Guardian Angels Central Catholic (GACC) provides high-quality visual arts instruction that supports students’ creative, academic, social, and spiritual development. The teacher fosters creativity, skill development, and self-expression within a faith-filled learning environment, while integrating Catholic values and supporting the mission of Catholic education. Through engaging instruction and a commitment to excellence, the Elementary Art Teacher helps students develop artistic skills, appreciation for beauty, and confidence in their creative abilities.

Instruction & Curriculum

• Teach elementary visual arts in alignment with approved curriculum and school learning goals

• Design developmentally appropriate lessons that build foundational art skills, creativity, and artistic expression

• Introduce students to various media, techniques, artists, and cultural art forms

• Foster imagination, problem-solving, and perseverance through the artistic process

• Integrate cross-curricular connections with classroom learning when appropriate

• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.

Assessment & Student Learning

• Assess student progress using age-appropriate formative and summative methods

• Provide constructive feedback that encourages growth, effort, and pride in student work

• Maintain accurate records of student participation and progress

• Use assessment information to adjust instruction and support student development

Classroom Environment & Safety

• Maintain a safe, organized, and respectful art classroom

• Establish clear routines, procedures, and expectations for materials and behavior

• Teach and enforce proper use, care, and cleanup of art supplies and equipment

• Promote student responsibility, collaboration, and respect for shared materials

• Ensure classroom practices support student safety and well-being

Professional & School Community Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and administrators

• Communicate professionally with parents and guardians as appropriate

• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives

• Support school events, exhibitions, and activities when possible

• Demonstrate openness to feedback and a commitment to continuous professional growth Professional Ethics & Confidentiality

• Uphold professional ethics and maintain confidentiality regarding student information

• Comply with all school policies, Archdiocese of Omaha guidelines, and Safe Environment requirements

• Adhere to the Confidentiality & Professional Conduct Addendum signed annually

Qualifications & Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field required

• Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement, or ability to obtain certification

• Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education; practicing Catholic preferred

• Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred

• Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills

 

• Comply with all school policies, Archdiocese of Omaha guidelines, and Safe Environment requirements.
