Base Salary is per the 2025/26 salary schedule plus an annual flat salary stipend and a District contribution to health insurance upon enrollment.
New Teachers are offered a one-time salary advance opportunity to increase their August paycheck. We want to assist in all ways possible through the transition into the teaching profession.
Paid Leave: 4 Personal Days; 9 Sick Days; 5 Bereavement Days; Civic Leave; and Professional Leave as determined by administrators. Certified staff also administer a Sick Leave Bank that all certified staff are eligible to join on an annual basis. Teachers who are parents or guardians of an FPS student can also use up to 4 sick days, per year, to attend FPS-sponsored activities for their child.
Retirement: FPS is a member of the Nebraska Public Employee Retirement System
FPS provides all certified team members long term disability, a $10,000 individual life insurance policy, and quarterly perfect attendance bonus opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education Level:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s Degree in Reading or related area or other advanced training is preferred
Certification/Licensure:
- Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement and level for area and grade taught
Experience Desired:
- Minimum three years of successful experience at the elementary level (Primary grades preferred)
Other Requirements:
- Good human relations skills
- Ability to work with students, staff, administration, and parents
- Knowledge of and continued learning in subject area to be taught
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate lesson planning, model effective teaching strategies, and use applicable assessment practices
- Ability to provide professional learning and on-going support to adult learners
- Knowledge of child development
- Excellent skills in oral and written communication
- Ability to use technology as an instructional tool, for data analysis, research, and presentation
- Flexibility relating to building assignment
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator(s) and Executive Director of Elementary Operations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of each employee’s position includes (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.
Basic:
Lead District Literacy program and provide intervention services to students.
Frequent:
- Impact classroom literacy instruction and student learning
- Demonstrate skills in teaching specific reading skills including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary
- Consult and collaborate frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to ELA instruction
- Use assessment data to identify students with reading deficiencies and assist in creating intervention plans
- Develop and implement lesson plans for students in reading interventions
- Plan and present professional learning and ongoing support for colleagues
- Maintain organized record keeping
- Administer assessments as needed
- Serve as leader of assessment data
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, instructional programming, and other instructional materials
- Serve on building level committees and teams
- Participate in Reading Team and Committee meetings
- Consult with District Literacy committees (e.g. textbook selection, program development, curriculum alignment, etc.)
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct/activities, develop for the learning environment reasonable rules for behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the learning environment in a fair and just manner
- Supervise and participate in fire drills and other emergency preparedness programs
- Follow the policies, regulations, procedures, and expectations established by the Board of Education and administration
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, activities, etc. of designated buildings as required
- Participate in professional growth through an ongoing program of workshops, seminars, conferences, inservices, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning
- Other miscellaneous duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned
