Instrumental Music Teacher
Franklin Public Schools is seeking an Instrumental Music Teacher who will be responsible for delivering high-quality music education to students, focusing on instrumental instruction and fostering an appreciation for music. This role involves teaching a range of instrumental techniques, music theory, and ensemble performance, while promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment. We are looking for a candidate who will have a passion for music, a strong understanding of instrumental pedagogy, and the ability to inspire students of varying skill levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Duties:
Teach instrumental music to students, ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
Provide individual and group lessons in a variety of instruments (e.g., piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, etc.).
Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the individual needs and learning styles of students.
Provide instruction on music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and performance techniques.
Plan and conduct instrumental ensemble rehearsals (e.g., band, solos, or small groups).
Integrate technology into lessons to enhance music learning (e.g., music software, online resources).
Student Performance and Assessment:
Prepare students for performances, auditions, and competitions.
Assess student progress and provide regular feedback on performance, technique, and musicality.
Organize and participate in school concerts, recitals, and community events.
Conduct periodic assessments to monitor students’ development and adjust instruction as needed.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
Establish clear expectations for student behavior, attendance, and participation.
Address student concerns and challenges in a proactive and supportive manner.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate music with other subjects and interdisciplinary projects.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and upcoming events.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Keep accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
Prepare lesson plans, assessments, and reports as required.
Assist with the maintenance and organization of musical instruments and equipment.
Professional Development:
Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with best practices in music education.
Attend music workshops, conferences, and other training opportunities.

The current base salary at Franklin is $38,025, which will increase after the close of the current negotiations process.
Starting date is August 2025.
