Intervention Specialist
Elementary Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing support at all levels to ensure
interventions are delivered to students with academic and behavior needs support, analyzing data to
track student progress, and collaborating with school leadership to identify student strengths and
address student challenges through the problem solving team process.
Key responsibilities include:
● Problem-Solving Team Support: Organizing, identifying, analyzing, and communicating
academic and behavioral trends using data from the problem-solving process.
● Direct Student Support: Understanding of MTSS-A (Multi-Tiered System of Supports for
Academics) and MTSS-B (Multi-Tiered System of Supports for Behavior) to support student
success and ability to provide one-on-one teaching and small group instruction to address
student needs.
● Behavioral Management & Intervention: Helping students regulate emotions, improve social
skills, and de-escalate situations.
● Collaboration & Coordination: Working with school administration on disciplinary actions
using a behavior matrix and communicating with parents and teachers about student needs
and interventions.
● Behavior Plan Development: Applying behavioral theories to create and implement
individualized behavior plans.
● Special Education Support: Assisting the special education team in developing and meeting
behavior goals outlined in students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Other Responsibilities of the Role:
● Maintain CPI certification
● Takes initiatives to enhance personal professional knowledge and skills.
● The ability to organize and communicate data clearly and concisely both in oral and written
form.
● Ability to use a personal computer, assessment platforms and Google Drive applications
● Demonstrates awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
● Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the
completion of school related activities.
● Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
