School Psychologist

Provides diagnostic services to program youth to facilitate an environment where students can learn.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Provides for diagnostic services for youth enrolled in an organizational program.

• Conducts assessments of cognitive, educational, behavioral, and emotional functioning of youth and provides formal reports documenting the results of special education evaluations.

• Attends Multidisciplinary Team and Individual Education Plan meetings for Boys Town schools.

• Consults with teachers and school administrative personnel regarding implementation of strategies and interventions; provides recommendations and addresses both behavioral and academic functioning.

• Works with schools and outside agencies to provide transition services for youth leaving a program.

• Integrates services across the school and residential settings.

• Administers the operating policies and procedures of Boys Town and the Boys Town Schools.

• Handles contacts appropriately with internal staff and outside agencies, including media and special interest groups.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to design and conduct evaluation activities in child behavior problems.

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to youth care.

• Computer skills in Microsoft Office.

• Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.

• Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.

• Knowledge of the Boys Town Model.
