Head Boys Basketball Coach

Due to professional advancement, the Dundy County Stratton (DCS) Public School District #117 in Benkelman, NE is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Head Boys Basketball Coach for the 2026-2027 school year.  Currently, there are teaching position vacancies of Business, Marketing & Information Technology; Lower Elementary (1st Grade) and K-12 Music Education for the ’26-27 school year.  The district is also taking applications for a Pre-K-through-6th Grade Principal vacancy.  The Dundy County Stratton (DCS) Public School District is located in the Southwest corner of the state of Nebraska and includes the communities of Benkelman (population 770), Haigler (population 140) and Stratton (population 300).  The district is comprised of approximately 295 students that are housed in three (03) buildings–a “new” (2025) Childcare/Pre-Kindergarten building, Elementary (K-6) facility and Jr./Sr. High School all located in Benkelman, NE.  The current enrollment across the district averages 18.7 students per grade level.  DCS competes at the Class D level for Nebraska School Activity Association (NSAA) activities/athletics and is a member of the Republican Plains Activity Conference (RPAC).

For the 2026-2027 school year, the district qualifies for the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) Community Eligibility Program (CEP) that provides for free meals to all students in the district.  The communities and district have a strong “Farm-to-Fork” program that utilizes locally produced meat for the lunch program.  Through local foundations, all graduating seniors that pursue post-secondary opportunities are afforded scholarships of $4,000.00(+) per semester for up to four (04) years of post-secondary education.  The district supports a 1:1 technology environment with students utilizing iPads or laptops.  DCS has a strong staff, supportive communities and a progressive board/staff relationship along with advanced technology to provide great opportunities for students.

The Dundy County Stratton Public School District #117 has a 2025-2026 base salary of $41,600.00.  Head Coaching positions are paid 10% of the base salary with the opportunity for longevity pay included.  The teaching position will have a 185-day contract commencing in mid-August 2026 and concluding in mid-May 2027.  The district provides certificated staff with paid Blue Cross Blue Shield family health insurance/single dental insurance ($1,050/$3,800 deductible) along with a paid $20,000 life insurance policy.  The district offers certificated staff members fifteen (15) days of paid time off (PTO) annually.  All previous years of teaching experience are accepted.

Other coaching and/or activity sponsorship opportunities may be available but aren’t required with this position.
