Light Maintenance Job Description

A. Job Title: Light Maintenance
B. Department: Buildings and Grounds
C. Education Level: High School graduate preferred.
D. Reports To: Director of Buildings and Grounds
E. Required Job Tasks
1. Lighting Maintenance: Replacing bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and starters in classrooms and corridors.
2. General Repairs: Performing minor, non-technical repairs (painting, carpentry, minor plumbing).
3. Equipment Care: Maintaining custodial equipment and replacing HVAC filters.
4. Event Support: Setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and equipment for school events.
5. Safety & Security: Reporting damage, securing doors/windows, and operating power tools safely.
6. Event Set-up/ Clean-up: Preparing sites for events and cleaning up, including moving heavy furniture.
7. Outside Maintenance: Mowing, trimming, pulling weeds, repairing irrigation as needed.
8. Custodial duties as needed.
9. Develop and maintain a positive, professional rapport with students and parents.
10. Serve as a role model to all students.
11. Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District’s reputation or image in the community.
12. Refrain from engaging in conduct that interferes with the operations of the District, including the education of students.

14. Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.
15. Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.
16. Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).
F. FLSA Exempt Status: Non-Exempt.
G. Essential Functions: The essential functions of the Custodian position include: (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and performance responsibilities which require effective teaching and communication skills; and (3) the ability to perform the following identified physical requirements.
H. At-Will Position. This position is an “at-will” position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time in the sole discretion of the Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee.
