District Guidance Counselor

Due to retirement, the Cross County Community School District is currently accepting applications for a District Guidance Counselor for the 2021-22 school year.  Candidates must hold, or be able to obtain a Nebraska Department of Education Teacher Certification with proper endorsement in School Counseling.  Would consider provisional-eligible endorsement for otherwise well-qualified candidate.

Based on candidate’s qualifications, this position may include elementary through high school, or middle grade(s) through high school.  For the Middle School/High School portion of the Guidance Counselor position, the successful candidate would be responsible for the overall development, coordination, implementation and delivery of Guidance/Counseling services to all students in the high school.  Specific areas of responsibility include:

·         College and career planning

·         Post-secondary testing

·         Academic, social, and emotional services and programing

·         Referrals to appropriate outside resources

·         Consulting with parents, teachers, and staff

·         Scholarship program

·         Maintain student records

·         Class sponsorship

·         Graduation requirements and ceremonies

   ·         6-12 Class Scheduling – PowerSchool

Based on qualification, this position may include an elementary counseling piece where the focus will be on the academic, social and emotional needs of elementary students in the district.

Coaching is available (including head dance coach), but not required with this position.
