School Psychologist

CRETE PUBLIC SCHOOLS, a progressive mid- sized school in good proximity to Lincoln but with benefits of small town, is accepting applications for a K-12 SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST to provide school psychology services including special ed evaluation; consultation with parents, students and teachers; and building a Response to Intervention service plan.  Must be certified in School Psychology through the NE Department of Education.

Essential Job Functions:

Job Tasks:

  1. Compile and interpret students’ test results, along with information from teachers and parents, to determine eligibility for special services.

  2. Report any pertinent information to the proper authorities in cases of child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.

  3. Assess an individual child’s needs, limitations, and potential, using observation, review of school records, and consultation with parents and school personnel.

  4. Select, administer, and score psychological tests.

  5. Provide consultation to parents, teachers, administrators, and others on topics such as learning styles and behavior modification techniques.

  6. Promote an understanding of child development and its relationship to learning and behavior.

  7. Counsel children and families to help solve conflicts and problems in learning and adjustment.

  8. Develop individualized educational plans in collaboration with teachers and other staff members.

  9. Maintain student records, including special education reports, confidential records, records of services provided, and behavioral data.

  10. Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and professionals to develop individual educational plans designed to promote students’ educational, physical, and social development.

  11. Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.

  12. Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students’ behavioral and academic problems.

  13. Coordinate placement of students with special needs into mainstream classes.
