High School Assistant Football Coach

The person in this position will be responsible for assisting the Head Football Coach during the fall sports season at Crete High School.  Position starts with the fall season, 2020-21.  

 

FLSA Status:   Professional exemption:  The employee has a primary duty of performing work requiring knowledge of an advanced type in a field of science or learning customarily acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction and study or has a primary duty of teaching, tutoring, instructing, or lecturing in the activity of imparting knowledge and is employed and engaged in this activity as a teacher AND receives a salary over $970 per week of the season.

         Non-exempt if pay is under $970 per week of the season.

 

Education Level and Certification:    Must possess a Nebraska Coaching Certificate at all times during employment with such endorsements as required by NDE Rule 10.

         5.     No history of child abuse or negligence

         6.     Good oral and written skills

 

Job Tasks:

  1. Establish clear objectives for activity being supervised, and communicate those objectives to students.

  2. Provide training direction, encouragement, motivation, and nutritional advice to prepare athletes for games and competitive events.

  3. Instruct individuals or groups in sports rules, game strategies, and performance principles, such as specific ways of moving the body, hands, or feet, to achieve desired results.

  4.  Adapt coaching/supervision methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.

  5. Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to their sport.

  6. Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule activities.

  7. Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students’ behavioral and academic problems.

  8. Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.

  9. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.

  10. Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic problems, or special interests.

  11. May serve as head coach of JV, Reserve or Freshman team.
