Director of Federal Programs

Crete Public Schools is seeking applicants for a Director of Federal Programs. Benefits include paid health insurance, long term disability insurance, and personal and sick leave. This position is open until filled. 


The Federal Programs Director shall provide leadership and overall implementation of Federal Programs.  The Federal Programs Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and reporting required in all federal funding projects contained in the ESSA  and various other Federal Applications. The position is designed to support and enhance the educational process in grades PK-12. In addition, this position serves as Director of Adult Education, which serves adults in need of basic education, including ESL newcomers through GED, and all Career and Technical Education grants, including the Perkins V Grant and the NDE reVision Grant.

Preferred Requirements 

  • Master’s degree in educational leadership or other related field
  • Nebraska Administrative Certificate or the ability to obtain one
  • Experience in PK-12 public education

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervises and monitors the performance of certificated and classified staff assigned to the Federally Funded Projects
  • Stays current on all guidelines, requirements, and procedures for submitting federal grants
  • Provides expertise and information on best practices for support for low-performing schools
  • Ensure all federal grants are completed and submitted on time and in full compliance of the law.  Federal grants include but are not limited to ESSA: Title I, Title 1-A School Improvement, Title I-C Migrant; Title II Supporting Effective Instruction, Title III English Learner; Title IV-A Student Support and Academic Enrichment ; and Title VII-B Homeless (McKinney-Vento); Adult Education, Career and Technical Education grants (Perkins and ReVision grants)
  • Prepare all federal grants, monitor, and compile monthly budget reports, annual budget reports, final expenditure reports, time and effort logs and any other state and/or federal reports required for Federal Programs
  • Monitors and tracks expenditures of federal-funded projects for accuracy and compliance
  • Oversees all questions regarding supplemental and supplanting issues for federal funds
  • Coordinates fiscal management of federal programs with appropriate staff in Policy and Planning and Financial Services
  • Coordinates allocations to private and nonpublic schools as required by state and federal programs
  • Updates District plan to ensure all goals and objectives meet guidelines and are aligned with academic needs of students in the district
  • Assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities related to school improvement plans throughout the district
  • Attends all federal and state program training institutes as needed or recommended by supervisor
  • Coordinate the improvement of Federal Programs through professional learning opportunities and establishing channels of communication.
  • Develop program descriptions and prepare budgets for each program
