School Counselor

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; familiarity with the goals, objectives, and mission of a Jesuit, college preparatory high school; the ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse student and parent population. The candidate must have knowledge of career development and college planning. Knowledge of standardized testing programs and interpretation of data is also an asset.  An ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in school counseling. Strong candidates will also have demonstrated positive social and spiritual mentorship of students in the past.

Qualifications: 

 

  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Jesuit education as set forth in Creighton Prep’s mission statement and the “Profile of the Jesuit High School Graduate at Graduation.”

  • A continuously updated Nebraska Teaching Certificate with the secondary school guidance endorsement.

  • Master’s degree in counseling or be working toward a Master’s degree, meeting the guidelines stated in the faculty handbook.

  • Capable of working collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Able to communicate clearly with students, parents, and administration.

  • Willing to be an important part of updating the vision and continuing the mission of Creighton Preparatory School.

  • Experience in career and college guidance or high school college counseling (at least 3 years) strongly preferred.

  • Necessary skills include excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational ability and the ability to meet deadlines.
