Educational Technology Coordinator

Purpose 

The Educational Technology Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the integration and management of technology infrastructure and resources within the educational institution. The position will work to ensure that technology is effectively utilized to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technology Strategy and Planning

    • Develop and implement a strategic technology plan aligned with the school’s educational goals.

    • Stay up-to-date with emerging educational technology trends and assess their potential impact on the institution.

  2. Infrastructure Management

    • Collaborate in the management of the school’s technology infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware, and software systems.

    • Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of technology resources.

  3. Digital Learning Integration

    • Collaborate with educators to integrate technology into the curriculum and enhance the teaching and learning experience.

    • Identify and implement digital tools and resources that support student achievement.

  4. Professional Development

    • Plan and provide training programs for teachers and staff on how to use technology effectively in the classroom.

    • Foster a culture of ongoing professional development in educational technology.

  5. Budget Management

    • Collaborate in the development and management of the technology department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and optimal resource allocation.

  6. Data Management and Privacy

    • Oversee the collection, storage, and security of educational data in compliance with relevant data privacy laws (e.g., FERPA).

    • Implement data-driven decision-making processes.

  7. Technical Support

    • Provide technical support to staff and students for troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.

    • Maintain a helpdesk or support system to address technology-related concerns.

  8. Vendor Management

    • Manage relationships with technology vendors and negotiate contracts for hardware and software procurement.

    • Evaluate and select technology solutions that align with the school’s needs.

  9. Security and Compliance

    • Develop and enforce technology security policies to protect sensitive data and digital assets in collaboration with other staff.

    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, such as the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA).

  10. Collaboration and Communication

    • Foster collaboration between different departments to ensure the effective use of technology in administrative operations.

    • Communicate technology-related updates and issues to school leadership, staff, and parents.

  11. Other Responsibilities

    • As assigned by the Superintendent.

Additional Information

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is recommended (e.g., information technology, educational technology, education).  

2. Three or more years of industry or teaching experience is preferred.

3. Prior experience with technology use in a school setting.

4. Strong project management, leadership, and communication skills.

5. Understanding of educational best practices and student needs in a technology-enhanced learning environment is preferred.
