Business Manager

Centura Public Schools is accepting applications for a Business Manager. Centura Public Schools is located in rural Central Nebraska along the banks of the Loup River, 20 minutes away from Grand Island. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Accounting/Finance

•                  Ensure the accuracy of all monthly bank account statements and account reconciliations.

•                  Manage the district requisition and purchase order process for General Fund purchases.

•                  Record revenue as received and deposit at appropriate bank.

•                  Input invoice bills and prepare them for monthly payment.

•                  Prepare financial reports for monthly board meetings including the treasurer’s report,

listing of bills, actual spending to budget figures and other reports as deemed necessary.

•                  Ensure completion, compliance, and any necessary adjustments of district annual audit.

•                  Submission of annual AFR through NDE.

•                  Develop, track and management of General Fund, Building Fund, Lunch Fund and Depreciation Fund account payables and receivables.

•                  Manage, report and track local, state and federal grant funding. 

•                  Bookkeeping for the Centura Educational Foundation.

•                  Track, coordinate and report all Special Education and IDEA financial data. 


HR/Payroll/Employee Benefits

•                  Process monthly payroll including the calculation of time clock entries, substitute pay, bus driver pay, coaching pay, and exempt pay.

•                  Coordinate employee benefits available to all district staff and monthly reconciliation of benefit plans.

•                  Process annual W-2s, 1095’s, 1099’s.

•                  Prepare all necessary federal and state taxes and retirement reports.

•                  Prepare contracts and employment agreements for all district employees.

•                  Assist Superintendent with personnel issues.

•                  Process new hire paperwork.

•                  Maintain all employee personnel files.

•                  Assist and ensure the completion of employee performance reviews.

Miscellaneous

•                  Submit board meeting notices and prepare monthly reports for board meetings.

•                  Attend board meetings and prepare board meeting minutes.

•                  Assist in the preparation of materials for district negotiations.

•                  Assist in the preparation of materials for the annual budget submission.

•                  Assist with the submission of required reports for the Nebraska Department of Education or other governmental entities relating to the district’s budget, finances, and/or personnel.

•                  Completion of annual NDE Census report.

•                  Ensure compliance with all state and federal reporting requirements. 

     •                   Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in business management, accounting, or a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general financial operations.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and accounting software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff and external vendors.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a small school district with evolving priorities.
