Automotive Technology Instructor
As part of the Automotive Technology program, the instructor will typically teach the following: automotive engines, power trains, fuel, brakes and electrical systems, steering and suspension systems, air conditioning, customer service, service equipment, diagnostic equipment, and general service principles. The instructor in this position will teach in a variety of delivery methods to a diverse student population. Instructor will also be required to recruit and advise students. Instructor position (175 day contract).

An Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology or related field and a minimum of 3 years related occupational experience with recognized industry certification is required. Or, an AAS degree in Automotive Technology or related field and 5 years of related occupational experience, or a bachelor’s degree in the field or related field and 3 years of related occupational experience. The candidate should have thorough knowledge of automotive equipment operation used in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of passenger cars, trucks, and hybrid vehicles. Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, fuel systems, power trains, brake systems, steering and suspension system including engine overhaul, repair, and maintenance is also required. Experience in customer service and shop management including contamination control, hazardous materials, and special tools would be preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have ASE Certification. If ASE certifications are not current, must be willing to obtain ASE master certification within 1 year of employment. Experience teaching and assessing student learning is helpful.
