Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)

Blair Community Schools  in Blair, Nebraska  is seeking a qualified Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) for the 2022/2023 school year to help address the functional needs of our students. As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will play an integral role in the success of our students by providing occupational therapy services to students under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. This is a full-time position, no billable hours, the employee hired will work a school schedule with no nights, no weekends, and no holidays.


  •  Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant curriculum.

  •  In good standing with all regulatory agencies and licensing boards.

  • Implements and executes an established patient treatment plan under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist

  • Reports any changes in students’ status or needs to supervising therapist on a timely basis.

  • Adhere to state supervision requirements of at least 4 hours per month, with no less than 2 hours of direct supervision. 

  • Implement individualized IEP goals and objectives aiming to promote fine motor, perceptual motor, self care, sensory integrative skills, and play activities, as well as neuromuscular function.

  • Implement occupational therapy activities to meet student needs and encourage progress.

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the student’s multidisciplinary team, other related service professionals, school district personnel, outside service providers, and the student’s family to design and implement appropriate services.

  • Demonstrate appropriate behavior management strategies and techniques, including knowledge of student privileges and responsibilities.

  • Complete quarterly progress reports and provide information to parents/guardians and school districts.



  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with child, parent/guardian, multidisciplinary team members and other personnel involved in child’s educational/behavioral program.

  • Must have knowledge of child development and common behavioral disorders exhibited by children and adolescents.

  • Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
