School Nutrition Director

The Aurora Public School District is seeking applications for the position of  School Nutrition Director.  Qualified candidates possess excellent interpersonal skills, create a positive working environment, works well with students, parents, staff members, and has experience in food service and/or education/training in a related field.  The School Nutrition Director is responsible for the breakfast and lunch program of the school district, comprising of two kitchens, approximately 15 staff members, serving approximately 1,100 students per day.  This position is a full time, 10-11 month salaried position, with benefits.  Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Order food, supplies, and equipment in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines

  • Create menus for breakfast and lunch that meet state and federal guidelines, as established by the Nebraska Department of Education

  • Assign and supervise nutrition staff

  • Ensure meals are prepared and served in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines

  • Become knowledgeable of the National Child Nutrition Program

  • Process Free and Reduced Lunch applications

  • Submit monthly requests to the Nebraska Department of Education for reimbursement

  • Ensure proper record keeping and inspection of food preparation, serving areas, equipment, and storage facilities

  • Meet all appropriate timelines and deadlines with all required tasks, as established by building, district, state, and federal agencies

  • Possess high level of professionalism with strong moral and ethical behavior

  • Serve as a positive role model to students of the school and district
